I don’t see this much engagement in this Daily Enrichment Sensory Activity with a dog—when I turn on the Dog TV. Why is this?

Can anyone tell me why dogs 🐶 do not get the same inspiration as cats 🐈 do from TV (most dogs do not even notice when the TV is on!) it’s such a BUMMER!

This is an easy method to entertain our dogs and cats when we are not around them, but dogs do not seem to notice or even care that the DOG TV is on!

It’s Brody’s final weekend of his BOARD & TRAIN with us! 🥳👏🤩😊

We’ve been working him on keeping attentive engagement with the handler at all times, and practicing good impulse control in high-distraction environments! 🌊🐾

Today we took 1 yr old Brody down to Manhattan Beach to practice counter-conditioning around other dogs. He’s been working tirelessly this month on improving his manners around humans and dogs. He’s used to exhibiting excited & fearful barking behavior, and will run over to strangers dogs to greet them.

When a dog passes by, the goal is for Brody to acknowledge them but immediately look back to me for his cue and a reward (in this case, some delicious home made plain boiled chicken!).

We’re also using a clicker as a marker word (“Yes!”) to precisely pinpoint the exact moment he does the right behavior. Teaching these skills early is the best way to prevent reactivity down the line and ensure a peaceful walk for everyone.

Who said daycare was just for running around? 🌴🐾

Looking back at Tuesday’s challenge: Sit, down, focus, leash off... and WAIT for the release. The older pack members crushed it, but 1-year-old King Charles Cavalier puppy Brody proved that impulse control is a work in progress! 🐕💨

While the big dogs waited like pros, little Brody needed a lot of extra direction to stay in his spot and kept his leash on for some extra support. Progress over perfection!

Beep beep! Cassie is officially a tech-forward pup! 🚗💨

Today’s Sniffari Daycare Club excursion was a special one. We started by taking Cassie, our 10-month-old Mini Poodle puppy, for her very first ride in a Waymo driverless car 🤖🐾 for some puppy 🐶 Cultural Socialization!

What is Cultural Socialization?
—It’s about safely exposing a puppy to the “culture” of our human world—unique sights, sounds, and technologies (like a car that drives itself!). By introducing Cassie to these environments now, we’re building her confidence so she grows up to be a calm, adaptable companion who isn’t phased by the “unusual.”

#throwbackfriday The most memorable dog I've ever owned, was Vasilka! She was my #seizurealertdog who always was there for me when I needed her most. I get teary eyed just writing this! She's in doggy heaven, and I will always miss her independent loving spirit, helpful heart, and the love that she brought to my life. I wish dogs would live forever! They deserve the best life possible, and when it's taken away, who knows where they go?
